| Live wild cat educational programs fascinate and captivate students. Leopards, Etc. offers a unique combination of fun, learning and sheer magic which lives on in school curriculum projects (and animated dinner-table conversations).
About Our Program
Our goal is to expand learning opportunities about wild cats and increase awareness of the impact of human behavior on the habitat and survival of these rare species.
We bring five wild cats selected from our collection of over 20 cats right to your school. Our immersive program involves showing each cat out of the cage and up-close as information about each cat's habits, habitats and survival issues are shared with the students. While not a circus act, natural behaviors like climbing, leaping and hunting are demonstrated. The profound impact of these enchanting cats draws not only "ooh's" and "aah's", but also a torrent of questions from the students. What do they eat? Where do they come from? This enthusiasm for wild animals carries on into other curriculum and home-based activities.
The Continuing Curriculum
We provide a comprehensive packet of curriculum materials to leverage the impact of our wild cat program and to provide teachers with a ready resource for many fun and informative classroom activities. Detailed instructional materials add depth to the information presented in the live program. Discussion questions lead classes on issues such as animal habits and habitats, wildlife preservation and how our personal choices can affect the survival of species. Puzzles, games, art projects and even a play add fun to the lessons.
Brought to You by Experts
Owners Rob and Barbara Dicely personally lead all educational programs. As educators with over 25 years of experience, they can lead demonstrations and discussions targeted to the age level and learning needs of the particular situation. Their great familiarity with all their cats increases the knowledge transmitted to the students and insures safety for all. Leopards, Etc. is licensed with the State of California and fully insured for safety.
Helping to Save Cats in the Wild
Increased awareness and education can only help protect these animals in the wild. A percentage of all funds raised from our educational events is donated to worthy grass roots organizations working to preserve the habitats and populations of these endangered animals. We include information in each program as to how students, their parents and teachers can contribute to these efforts and even "adopt" a wild cat of their own. We will not rest in our efforts to ensure these magnificent animals live on in the wild, not just in zoos or on television.
